 Bret S. Bissey, FACHE, MBA, CMPE
Bret is the author of the Compliance Officer’s Handbook and has presented at 50+ industry conferences/meetings on numerous compliance topics. As the Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, he was responsible for overseeing the institution’s successful adherence to a CIA with the OIG, which resulted from the nation’s first voluntary disclosure settlement. This Compliance Program was recognized by The HCCA as a “Best Practice” in 1999. As Senior Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs Operations of Covance, Inc., Bret was responsible for the regulatory compliance activities of an international public company. Bret earned his MBA from Wilkes College and his BS in Business Administration from Shippensburg University. He is a Fellow of the ACHE, the HCCA, the American College of Medical Practice Executives, HFMA and the EOA. He is a Past President for Region 2 of the HCCA and was Chairman of the Mid-Atlantic HealthCare Compliance Conferences.
